Tantalum Capacitors are among the most important components used in modern day electronics, and the TAP475K035FCS capacitor is no exception. This device is a surface mount capacitor, designed to provide a high degree of precision and stability, as well as reliability and longevity in many different electrical applications. The basic concept behind this capacitor is simple – it’s composed of two high-conductivity metals (tantalum and silver) that, when combined, form a sandwich of two plates that are isolated from each other by a dielectric material. This assembly, when charged with an electrical field, acts as a capacitor, storing and releasing energy when a current is passed through it.

This connection may be done manually or by using special surface mount connectors.

Once the capacitor has been mounted, it is ready for use. When a DC current is passed through it, the applied electric field causes an electrical charge to form on the capacitors’ plates. This charge is then “stored” in the capacitor for use when a current is passed through it in the opposite direction. This charging/discharging process is what allows a capacitor to store energy and is a key feature of the TAP475K035FCS. And because of this feature, a capacitor such as the TAP475K035FCS can be used in a wide variety of applications, from audio amplifiers to power supplies.
