A tantalum capacitor is a type of electrolytic capacitor and an electronic component made of a tantalum metal powder, pressed and sintered onto a metal anode in a hydrogen atmosphere and then impregnated with a solid conducting dielectric that comprises the majority of the capacitor\'s volume.

It is a chip capacitor with a radial leaded material alternative and consists of a tantalum core, a Niobium outer electrode, and a Mn02 dielectric.

Working Principle
