Power supply sequencing and monitoring are important functions of an electrical system, ensuring that all supply voltages are present at the correct levels during the turn-on and the steady-state operation and monitoring of the system. The TC1232EOE713 is a power sequencer and supervisor designed to address these requirements. It belongs to the family of PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuits) called Supervisors.
The TC1232EOE713 provides single chip power sequencing and monitoring functions for small and medium applications. It consists of a sequencer, multiple power startup supervisors, supply delay timers, adjustable reset timer, a watchdog reset timer and a system voltage sensor in a single package. The device is available in a 1.6 x 2.5mm QFN package and supports wide input voltage ranges from 2.3V to 13.2V.
The TC1232EOE713 enables precise power sequencing and Fault management for multiple system rails. The main sequencer uses supply-delay timer to control the power-on and power-off sequence similar to a customer-defined start-up and shut-down sequence. The device monitors the input and output voltages of each rail to detect possible faults and immediately manages any fault or power failure conditions.
The supply-delay timer contained in the TC1232EOE713 are absolute time-base timers, allowing power sequencing between two power/clock rails in a precise way. Up to four individual delay timer can be programmed, independently of each other, assigning each of them with a delay between 0 to 80ms, generating a sequence of delayed outputs.
To control the on/off of the system rails two supply-delay timers and an on/off flagg from the main sequencer, a Power-on Supervisor (PoS), can be used. The PoS provides an additional level of logic for proper startup of a system rail by providing UV, OV, OTP, reset and glitch protection over input voltage range.
Once a fault or power failure has been detected, the TC1232EOE713 is able to signal external devices indicating the type of fault and its current status (e.g. OVP, OVP warning or System nRESET), by providing an interrupt signal.
Additionally, the watchdog timer (WDT) included in the TC1232EOE713 provides a signal reset to the system controller when the WDT exceeds its pre-programmed time-out period. The WDT can be set to timeout periods of 2.08s to 16.32s.
The TC1232EOE713 provides an extra advantage with its adjustable voltage-threshold monitor. This monitoring-logic makes possible the monitoring of system voltages, allowing the detection of a break down in an external power supply connected to the system. It can be used to detect a voltage decrease lower than a pre-programmed threshold value.
In summary, the TC1232EOE713 offers a comprehensive solution for sequenced power-up and power-down, multiple voltage monitoring, power failure detection and system reset in a single package.
