Working Principle

The TC828AECTTR adopts a switching regulated process to convert the input voltage to a desired output voltage. It uses a topology consisting of an input circuit, a power switch, an inductor, a rectifier and a control circuit. By controlling the output voltage with the feedback voltage, a constant output voltage is maintained even when the input voltage changes.

The input circuit is composed of an input filter, input voltage sensing circuit, Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO) circuit, and power on reset (POR). The input filter prevents interference from being mixed with the input voltage, while the input voltage sensing circuit samples and amplifies the input voltage. The UVLO circuit monitors the input voltage and sends out a signal to the PWM circuit when the input voltage drops below the UVLO threshold value. POR detects the power supply condition and outputs reset signal to the PWM circuit.

The power switch is a MOS transistor, usually a high-side SEPIC switch. It drives the inductor current with PWM, and then provides the current to the output diode.

The output diode is used to rectify the AC current into DC output voltage.

The control circuit consists of error amplifier and PWM comparator. The error amplifier amplifies the differences between the reference voltage and output voltage and feeds the PWM comparator with the amplified signal. The comparator compares the amplified voltage with an internal oscillator to generate a PWM signal to control the MOS transistor.
