TCAN1042GVDRQ1 is a advanced high-speed transceiver for automotive controller area networks (CAN). The device supports both Base (CAN2.0B) and Extended (CAN2.0A) Frame Format and is compliant to ISO11898-2 (transceiver part). It includes a transmit and receive circuit for the differential driver and the differential receiver.
In terms of application field, the TCAN1042GVDRQ1 transceiver is widely used in automotive networks, such as in automotive body control modules, powertrain, body interface controller, interior vehicle networks, and in communication and control of engine and car subsystems. It can also be used in industrial CAN controllers, distributed safety systems, medical electronics, robotics, and other transportation applications.
For the working principle, the transceiver is a physical layer device which is responsible for transmitting a CAN frame over the CAN bus. When a CAN frame needs to be transmitted, the transceiver drives the CAN differential output lines in a balanced differential voltage. The transmitter block encodes the CAN bit stream into high-speed NRZ (Non Return to Zero) signals. A high speed differential non-return to zero (NRZ) driver circuit modulates the differential output lines. When the module receives a message (CAN frame) from the bus, the differential signals are detected and demodulated by a high-speed differential non-return to zero (NRZ) receiver circuit. The receive block decodes the NRZ signals into CAN bit stream and passes it to the CAN controller.
