TCR3DM32, LF Application Field and Working Principle

TCR3DM32 is a linear voltage regulator which belongs to the PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) family. It is designed to provide fixed or adjustable output voltage and is used in applications such as portable devices, notebooks and desktop computers, small home appliances, and digital TVs. The TCR3DM32 features a low drop-out voltage and very low quiescent current, making it suitable for use in battery-powered applications.

Application Field

TCR3DM32 is mainly used for portable electronic devices, such as laptop computers, digital cameras, music players, and other handheld electronic devices. Working Principle

The TCR3DM32 linear voltage regulator uses an integrated power MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor) to regulate the output voltage and regulate the current flow. The MOSFET is used in series with the output voltage VOUT and ground. The gate of the MOSFET is controlled by an internal reference voltage (VREF), which is generated by an ADC (analog-digital converter). When the voltage at the output increases, the gate voltage of the MOSFET decreases, which makes the MOSFET less resistant, so more current is allowed to pass from the input voltage to the output voltage. If the output voltage decreases, the gate voltage of the MOSFET increases, which makes the gate more resistive, so less current is allowed to pass from the input voltage to the output voltage. This process is known as linear voltage regulation.

The voltage regulation is controlled by the internal feedback loop, which monitors the output voltage through the ADC. The feedback loop then feeds the information back to the MOSFET to adjust the resistance. The output voltage is also simultaneously monitored with the internal RESET circuit, which ensures that the output voltage remains within the safe operating range of the device.

The TCR3DM32 voltage regulator is extremely efficient and accurate, making it ideal for use in portable and sensitive devices. Its low dropout voltage and very low quiescent current also make it suitable for use in battery-powered applications.
