TDA8579T/N1SU Application Field and Working Principle
The TDA8579T/N1SU is a high-performance integrated signal level conversion device from NXP, designed for a variety of applications, mainly for high-speed signal bi-directional level conversion. The product provides a full range of signal direction control and can be configured as a single bidirectional signal converter or dual unidirectional signal converters depending on the user’s requirements. Due to its open loop topology, TDA8579T/N1SU is ideal for medium and high-speed signaling applications and can provide maximum signal conversion capabilities from 0.7V to 3.2V.
Application Fields
TDA8579T/N1SU can provide the signal conversion ability between 0.5V ~ 3.3V, and support LVDS or LVPECL. It is suitable for a variety of applications. The main application field is shown as follows:

Working Principle
TDA8579T/N1SU is an open loop level converter. The device enters a static/sleep mode when dealing with static input signals. When a static input is detected, the rising/falling edge detector inside the device activates the pull-down/pull-up circuit to convert the signal level. The conversion is realized by charging or discharging the parasitic capacitor components in the output pad area.
For a balanced signal, when the input level is greater than the threshold level of the rising/falling edge detector, the detector will output a pulse to drive the internal level converter circuit. The level converter then sources or sinks current which is used to transfer the capacitor\'s charge, thereby changing the output level. The level conversion time of TDA8579T/N1SU is 11ns, and the output settle time is up to 2.2ns.
In addition, the TDA8579T/N1SU device also has adjustable gain parameters, which can obtain various input/output level. It provides the operator with improved coding efficiency, fast turn-on speed, fully integrated pull-down or pull-up circuits and thermal shutdown mechanism.
