Linear-Video Processing is a field that involves the manipulation of natural linear signal and image processing algorithms, including image restoration, image enhancement, and image compression. The TDA9881TS/V2,518 Application Field and Working Principle is a good example of this type of technology.TDA9881TS/V2,518 is a VLSI System-On-Chip (SoC) designed to be a processor for linear-video processing applications. The chip contains a single core CPU, a direct memory access (DMA) controller, a video port, timing generator and digital signal processor for video signal processing, an audio port and an analog video port for A/V signal I/O.The architecture of the processor is organized in a way that allows it to process linear digital video and image data from other devices connected via its video ports, as well as digital and analog audio signals.The TDA9881TS/V2 processor supports both progressive (for digital broadcasting) and interlaced (for analog broadcasting) video signals. The progressive signal is the primary input and output image information.The TDA9881TS/V2 supports image manipulation algorithms like color conversion, image resizing, scaling, blending, and distortion correction. Color conversion is essential for transforming one color space to another ( YUV to RGB, for instance). Image resizing and scaling algorithms allow the processor to change the resolution of images. Blending algorithms allow combining multiple images together. The distortion correction function corrects the geometric distortion (rotation, shear, perspective) of images. In addition, the TDA9881TS/V2 processor supports the following functionalities: Video port switching, synchronization of multiple video ports, time-base correction & rate conversion, noise reduction and filtering, high region of interests (ROI) scaling, and audio post-processing.Video port switching is a process of dynamically selecting the video port that provides the best quality for a particular video signal processing task. Synchronization of multiple video ports is used to ensure that all images from different inputs (for instance, multiple cameras) are aligned in time. Time-base correction & rate conversion are used for synchronization between multiple video sources and reducing artifacts generated by wrong video timings. The noise reduction and filtering functionsde-noise the output image. High ROI scaling algorithms help to increase image detail in high movement areas of a video sequence. Audio post-processing is used to clean noisy parts of the audio signal, prevent noise artifacts, and apply compression or other audio effects as required.The TDA9881TS/V2 is available in a wide range of technical configurations, including support for 4K resolutions, HDCP encryption, multi-channel audio and many other features. It also provides a wide range of high performance I/O (inputs/outputs) interfaces, such as HDMI, SDI, USB and more.The TDA9881TS/V2 is an example of a linear-video processing solution and proves to be a reliable and powerful solution for embedded video and image processing applications.
