The TDZVTR13 is a single Zener diode widely used in a range of applications. In its most basic form, it\'s a Zener diode – a diode with a particular voltage threshold above which it begins to conduct, an effect known as “Zener breakdown” – connected in reverse-bias, with a resistor in series. This combination provides a convenient way to regulate the voltage of a current or buffer it from noise.The most common application for the TDZVTR13 is as a voltage regulator in a power system. The Zener diode provides voltage regulation by conducting current at the specific Zener voltage, maintaining the voltage across it at a constant level. In this circuit, the resistor is necessary to limit the Zener current, which would otherwise be too large and damage the diode. The resistor also provides a load to ensure that the Zener diode operates in its linear region, as opposed to its breakdown voltage.The TDZVTR13 can also be used to provide a buffer from noise.
