TE0887-02M is a type of evaluation board embedded in complex logic (FPGA, CPLD). Despite its small size – 96x117mm – it is packed with features and possibilities. Its main application field is in academic research, exploring new ideas and exploring new components.The board has a Spartan-3AN FPGA with two hundred thousand system gate equivalents and Xilinx 9.2 Design Edition tools. The board also features four Xilinx expansion ports. The boards twin non-volatile memory chips gives a platform for storage, whilst its USB 2.0 interface provides direct connection to a computer. The board has built-in voltage regulators to provide proper voltage levels.The system has a working principle built on the concept of programmable logic. This means that the board can be used to implement complex systems and achieve more complex behavior than would be possible with a large number of integrated circuits. The programmable logic is programmed through software such as VHDL, Verilog and ABEL.By programming the board, the user can create a system with complex behavior. This includes, amongst many other things, the manipulation of digital values, the sequencing of gates and the storage of data. Furthermore, users can write low-level code enabling the device to be used as a microcontroller such as a PC.The board can also be used to develop low-cost circuit switching, analog prototype systems, digital signal processor systems and medical instrumentation systems.
