PMIC - AC DC Converters and Offline Switchers involve components and sub-systems used to transfer alternating current (AC) electricity to direct current (DC) electricity. The TFS763HG is an integrated, low-power and wide input offline flyback converters IC featuring over-voltage (OVP), over-current (OCP), and over-temperature (OTP) protection.The TFS763HG features a fixed output current of up to 670mA, an operating temperature range of -25ºC to 125ºC, and a wide wide input voltage range of 4.5 V to 22 V. It provides excellent EMI performance with low standby power, programmable Voltage Positioning, and excellent Efficiency with low startup current. The TFS763HG also has high voltage level shifting capabilities, allowing it to be used in a variety of applications.The TFS763HG works in two phases. In the first phase a low-side MOSFET switch, connected the source to the Drain, is turned on under conditions, when the primary current’s zero-cross-point is detected. When the primary current reaches the zero-cross-point ,the current is opened, and a negative voltage is generated, as the energy is stored in the primary inductance Ls.The negative voltage generated at the Drain is sensed by a comparator and stored in an internal capacitor. The drain voltage value is compared with a reference and the circuit detects the peak value of the current. The second phase is initiated once the peak of the current is detected. During the second phase, the low side MOSFET switch is turned off, and the secondary feedback winding creates a positive voltage. Pulses with the accumulated energy, generated by the magnetic field in the inductor’s, are then transferred to the output when the secondary MOSFET switch is turned on.The Flyback Circuit provides multiple protection features, such as Over-voltage Protection (OVP), Over-current Protection (OCP) and Over-temperature Protection (OTP), that ensures maximum reliability and longevity. The OVP is triggered when the output voltage exceeds a certain limit, OCP is triggered when the fourth cycle Detected, and an OTP is triggered when the chip’s temperature exceeds a certain limit.These protection features also provide protection from component failures and helps reduce component aging due to excessive operating temperatures. Furthermore, the TFS763HG also provide a soft start and programmable voltage positioning capabilities that helps minimise component stress, improve operation efficiency, and reduce component wear.In conclusion, the TFS763HG integrated, low-power and wide input offline Flyback Converters IC is designed to transfer alternating current (AC) electricity to direct current (AC) electricity, while providing excellent EMI performance, low standby power, and programmable Voltage Positioning capabilities.
