Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVSs) are a type of special semiconductor which is designed to protect sensitive electronic devices from a sudden surge in voltage. TVSs have been becoming increasingly popular in recent years due to their ability to protect devices from transients, which are those sudden, unexpected bursts of voltage which can occur in power systems.The TGL41-11A-E3/96 is a type of TVS which is specifically designed for peak pulse reduction. It is capable of reducing peak voltage pulses up to 50V and is suitable for applications up to 1KV DC. The TGL41-11A-E3/96 is commonly used in telecommunications, consumer electronics, automotive, medical, and industrial equipment applications.In its basic form, a TVS is simply a diode or group of diodes connected in series or in parallel. It is designed to conduct current in only one direction, allowing it to block transient voltages when there is a difference in voltage between the anode (positive) and cathode (negative) terminals. Depending on the design and configuration of the TVS, the diode can limit current from passing in either direction. The TGL41-11A-E3/96 is a series connection of four Zener diodes. Anode and cathode connections are made to the two input terminals and the two output terminals respectively. This arrangement creates a “bump” during the voltage transients and reduces the transient’s peak. The TGL41-11A-E3/96 has a maximum peak pulse power rating of 1KW, which is more than enough to provide protection against most transient voltages.The TGL41-11A-E3/96 is also capable of providing ESD protection.
