THS6182DRG4 Application Field and Working PrincipleThe THS6182DRG4 is a wide input, low-power differential amplifier designed for signal conditioning in high-speed routed applications. It is an integrated signal conditioning solution for dual-rail applications where high-frequency analog/digital signal routing is required. The THS6182DRG4 offers wide input range (1.8V to 36V common mode) and very low power consumption in 2.5V to 5V supply voltage range. It enables very compact system size, low noise and high-frequency performance. This device is well-suited for high-speed signal routing applications such as those associated with communication equipment, imaging systems, medical applications and industrial automation & control.This device is a single-supply compatible, JFET input differential amplifier which provides excellent ac and dc performance. It has a variable gain gain range of 1 to 1000 with a differential gain of 0.01dB to 0.3dB. Additionally, the THS6182DRG4 has an adjustable common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 100dB to 150dB. It operates with a power supply voltage ranging from 2.5V to 5V and can supply up to 275mA with output current rails. The THS6182DRG4 has an extremely low power consumption of 1.2mA/channel. The THS6182DRG4 is designed to be used as an interface between digital and analog signals in applications that have varying analog input ports and digital output ports. The device consists of two pairs of peak detectors, a differential pair of amplifiers, and a variable gain amplifier. The first peak detector is used to calculate the input signal’s RMS value, which is then scaled to the output’s amplitude. The second peak detector is used for calibration, and it is adjustable in order to ensure that the differential amplifier operates in its linear region. The differential pair of amplifiers amplifies the input signal, while the variable gain amplifier adjusts the amplitude of the gain. The THS6182DRG4 features an on-chip digital level shifter which supports start-up slew rate of 5V/µs and a maximum propagation delay of 200ns. This device is also able to support data rates of up to 6.5Gbps. Additionally, a low-power shutdown and a low-noise power-down mode are available respectively. The output signal is protected with the help of a thermal shutdown, ESD protection and reverse biasing protection.
