THS7316D Application Field and Working Principle

The THS7316D is a fully integrated, low-power high-speed video amplifier offered under Texas Instruments high speed video amplifier portfolio.It is designed to provide various gain configurations in fast switching applications. It is used for colour encoding in a variety of video signals for monochrome or colour applications. The gain configuration is set through an external resistor and it works over a wide operating temperature range.

Working Principle of THS7316D

The THS7316D amplifier works on a 1.8V to 3.14V power supply. It offers a 2 channel amplifier with differential inputs and outputs with low power consumption of 70mW @3.3V.The amplifier has two outputs and four differential inputs. Input signals can be driven directly from two 7mA logic outputs or two DC coupled signals with typical input buffer resistors of 390Ω in each channel.The device provides a low voltage operation of 1.8V for both bias and output voltage swing as 0.8V minimum. The amplifier also features a minimum operating supply current of 80µA/channel.The device also features a variable gain structure with external resistors to configure a gain of -6 dB, 0 dB, and +6 dB. The amplifier has a power down mode where the output voltage is set to the GND level.The amplifier offers a slew rate of 20V/µs and a switching speed of 7µs. The differential gain performance of the amplifier is 30 dB, and the differential phase performance is 0.1º with a gain stability of ±1% in steady state.
