Working Principle

The TISP4030L1BJR-S is a 3.3V, dual discrete, SCR / Thyristor device. It is designed for bidirectional transient / surge protection. As a Thyristor, it has very fast turn-on and turn-off times, and is extremely effective at automatically clamping and dissipating transient / surge signals of up to 400 volts.The device works by being connected to the line and consuming voltage surges above a certain threshold. When the voltage exceeds the clamping level, the device begins to reduce the voltage until it reaches a safe level. When the voltage returns to normal, the device opens the circuit again and returns the system to normal operation.The device is relatively low cost and has a long service life, in part due to its electro-mechanical actuation which reduces thermal stress from temperature cycling.
