TL331MDBVTEP Application Field and Working Principle

TL331MDBVTEP is an integrated linear comparator belonged to TL331 series. It is widely used in low power electronic equipment and its excellent performance is highly recognized by customers around the world. TL331MDBVTEP belongs to a family of linear devices, namely the linear-comparators. It has a static ratio much greater than unity, which enables the comparator to produce highly accurate analog results. Linear-comparators use transistors to compare the voltages of two inputs and determine if the voltage of one input is higher or lower than the other. If the voltage at one input is greater than the other, the comparator will output a logic “1”; if the voltage at one input is lower than the other, the comparator will output a logic “0”. Working Principle of TL331MDBVTEP TL331MDBVTEP works by comparing voltages at two external inputs, VREF and VIN. CPU establishes an ideal static working condition by controlling the current through the three-stage amplifier, as shown in figure. This creates a stable output that is independent of any undesirable input variations, such as noise. To illustrate the working principle of the TL331MDBVTEP, consider the following example. Suppose that the voltage at the VREF is 5V. At the VIN, the voltage is then compared to the VREF voltage - if the voltage at VIN is higher than that of the VREF, the result should be logic high; if the voltage at VIN is lower than that of the VREF, the result should be logic low. The linear amplifier inside the TL331MDBVTEP then has four conditions, as shown in figure. When the voltage at VIN is higher than that of the VREF, it will create four stages A, B, C and D, as illustrated in the figure below. If the voltage at VIN is lower than the VREF, then the amplifier will produce only three stages A, B and D, as illustrated in the following figure. Therefore, with four stages, the amplifier produces a logic high output; with three stages, the amplifier produces a logic low output. Thus, the voltage comparison between VREF and VIN could be done using the output of the amplifier. In summary, the TL331MDBVTEP is an integrated linear comparator that can compare the voltages at two external inputs and produce an analog output. Its static ratio is much greater than unity, which enables it to produce highly accurate results. The TL331MDBVTEP is widely used in low power electronic equipment and its excellent performance is highly recognized by customers.
