It can be used for various applications in industrial, automotive and consumer / communication products, ranging from voltage stability, power conditioning, voltage regulation, switch control, and overvoltage protection.The TL431AIDR2G is primarily used as an adjustable voltage regulator, providing an output voltage that is adjustable between 1.243 and 36V using an external resistor divider in correspondence with its reference voltage of 2.5V.The working principle of the TL431AIDR2G is based on the use of an external resistor divider network to adjust the output voltage of the device, while providing excellent current stability and an adjustable range of approximately 1.25 to 36 volts.The main components of the TL431AIDR2G are the three terminals: cathode, reference, and output port. A reference voltage is set by creating an external resistor divider network comprising of two resistors, R1 and R2. When the output voltage (Vout) of the TL431AIDR2G is set to reference voltage Vref, by adjusting the values of resistors R1 and R2, an external resistor divider network is created. The voltage across R1 and R2 are coupled to the inputs of the device, which compares the feedback voltage with the external reference voltage and regulates the output voltage. The output port of the device will provide a voltage that is a balance between the voltage applied to R1 and R2. The current through the output port can be regulated by adjusting the value of the resistor(s) connected to the output port.
