The working principle of TL431AQPK is as following. The device consists of an internal temperature compensated reference, an error amplifier, a voltage divider, and a current source, which are connected as shown in the figure. When the input voltage exceeds the reference voltage at the comparator, the error amplifier output goes to a high state. As the voltage divider resistance rises, the current source will be turned off at the same time, and it will be able to generate an overvoltage protection. When the input voltage is lower than the set voltage, the output of the error amplifier will be switched to the low-level state, and the current source begins to work. Eventually, a certain current will be created and remain in a stable state, and thus the output voltage will be determined.
