TL7705BID is a versatile Supervisory Circuit designed for use in microprocessor-based system solution. By monitoring power supply for a variety of conditions and resetting the microcontroller accordingly, the TL7705BID protect microprocessors and systems from undesirable error conditions.The TL7705BID is available in 5.0V, 3.3V, or adjustable input voltages and reset output logic options. The reset output logic is a selectable open-drain active-low or a pushpull active-high output. The reset signal is asserted when the power supply voltage falls below the reset threshold and is released to indicate normal supply voltage level. Additionally, the TL7705BID features system fault signal output which is asserted when the supply voltage is below the reset threshold and is released to indicate a short circuit is detected.The TL7705BID is intended for use with all kinds of microprocessor-based systems, connected to power supplies of any voltage. The reset output provides a microcontroller reset which maintains the microcontroller in reset until the power supply reaches the pre-determined reset threshold.The reset output also provides an enabling signal to the microcontroller, allowing it to be held in reset until the supply voltage reaches its correctly regulated level. In addition, it features active-low open-drain or active-high push-pull reset output, as well as system fault signal output.The TL7705BID is a low current, low power supervisor with a power-on reset (POR) circuit and a reset timer circuit, which allow power-on and related timing conditions to be monitored. With the reset timer, the TL7705BID provides a controlled reset outward, ensuring proper system start-up by preventing premature and false microcontroller resets. The reset timer also smoothes out fast power supply transient.

In addition, the TL7705BID also contains an internal voltage regulator, generates an acceptable VDD for the microcontroller even when the power supply VDD is lower than the specified VDD for the microcontroller. The internal voltage regulator of the TL7705BID is able to achieve the desired power up sequencing. It may receive any supply voltage up to 30V and contains protection for over/under voltage/current. TL7705BID offers a broad range of debugging, security, and system protection functionality. These functions are accomplished with a sophisticated monitoring circuit and output logic that provide a series of reset and fault signaling upon voltage level changes. The reset output of the TL7705BID is a selectable open-drain active-low or push-pull active-high output, and reset is asserted when the supply voltage falls below the reset threshold and is released to indicate the normal supply voltage level. The reset output is also connected to the reset timer circuit which holds the reset signal low until the power supply has stabilized and the microcontroller is ready to start. In addition, the TL7705BID also includes an analog comparator, which allows it to detect undervoltage conditions. And, the system fault output can detect overcurrent and overvoltage conditions, and can be monitored by the microcontroller to provide additional system protection.Typical applications of the TL7705BID include any microcontroller-based system connected to power supplies of any voltage. It allows for real-time monitoring of power-on, undervoltage, overvoltage, and overcurrent conditions, protects against false and premature microcontroller resets, and allows for proper sequencing of voltage supply for microcontroller.
