The TLC2201CDG4 is a quad, low-power consumption, rail-to-rail signal conditioning Comparator. It is composed of four independent channels that have very low-power requirements and a wide operating voltage range. The TLC2201CDG4 is designed to offer maximum accuracy over a temperature range of –40°C to 85°C, while keeping the total power consumption to an absolute minimum. The device is ideal for use in applications such as, signal conditioning, light dimming, test and measurement, and motor control.

Application Field

TLC2201CDG4 can be used in a variety of instrumentation, OP Amps, Buffer Amps, and signal conditioning applications, mostly for precision measurement and data acquisition systems. It is capable of operating on a wide voltage range from 1.8V to 5.5V and features rail-to-rail outputs, allowing for output swing from the supply rails to ground. It also features high input impedance, making it ideal for applications in which the input range can reach both the supply rails or beyond. The TLC2201CDG4 is especially suitable for use with very low input signal levels, including small signals close to rail and in order to precisely measure the signal level. These precision components are also applicable in low distortion signal applications such as audio signal processing and power audio amplification.

Working Principle

The TLC2201CDG4 has four current feedback Comparator channels and works with a single supply voltage, operating over a wide range from 1.8V to 5.5V. The circuit maximizes the power savings and extends battery life in devices powered at low voltage. Each of the two voltage comparators has an input signal range that includes very low level signals close to both the power rails. This makes them particularly suitable for signal conditioning applications.The comparators are based on an architecture that provides very low power consumption and high speed operation. It is composed of a compensated amplifier with a complete built-in feedback loop, allowing for output swing from the supply rails to ground. This low power design makes it suitable for applications with low supply voltage and portable electronic devices.

The TLC2201CDG4 also features maximum accuracy over the entire temperature range of −40°C to 85°C. It has a low offset voltage of 0.1mV and a low input current of 10pA typical. Additionally, the TLC2201CDG4\'s input bias currents are very low and typically don’t exceed 2pA, making it ideal for use in multiplexer applications. The internal architecture is designed optimally for very low power consumption, with a typical power consumption of 1 μA. Moreover, the device is also immune to latch-up due to an internal ESD protection that ensures high reliability.
