The TLE2071CP amplifier is a monolithic linear integrated circuit frequently used in instrumentation, operational amplifiers, buffers, and other signal conditioning applications. The device integrates a wide range of features into a single package, providing designers with the ability to easily implement a variety of signal conditioning functions. The circuit includes a high input impedance, a wide common-mode input voltage range, low output voltage offset and offset drift, and high common-mode rejection.
The device consists of a high-impedance differential input stage, followed by amplification/attenuation circuitry and an inverting output stage. The maximum differential input voltage is limited to approximately ±30 volts. The input stage is designed to minimize input bias current, and the high differential input impedance allows signals frequencies up to 140 MHz to be directly applied without introducing signal distortion. The amplification/attenuation stage can be configured to either boost or attenuate the signal, allowing a wide range of signal conditioning applications.
The total gain of the amplifier can be set using two external resistors, as well as an optional capacitor, selected to provide the desired gain. The gain is set using two resistor dividers connected between the power supply rails. The gain of the amplifier is then calculated from the ratio of the two resistors. The addition of a capacitor in parallel with the one of the resistors is necessary for high-frequency stability in some applications. The gain accuracy is dependent on the accuracy of the selected resistors; for example, 1% resistors provide for a gain accuracy within ±0.5%.
The amplifier also includes an inverting output stage, providing a voltage gain that is equal to the ratio of the input resistors. This output stage is capable of driving a wide range of loads, up to 50 ohms. The output is protected from both open-circuit and short-circuit conditions and can source or sink up to 1.5 amps of current. The output stage is protected from saturating the output transistors and is designed to provide low distortion and low noise in both linear and saturation regions.
