The TLE4263GMXUMA1 is a Linear Voltage Regulator integrated with a switch between load and supply. It features low quiescent current, fast transient response and very low output voltage deviation of the regulated output current due to transient supply voltage fluctuations. It can be used in a variety of applications, including batteries, industrial control systems, automotive, consumer and medical devices.
The device can work in either buck or boost operation, allowing a wide range of inputs, from 0.9 to 25 V, and a single 1.2 to 20 V output voltage. In buck configuration, it operates as a two-cell Li-ion buck converter with a wide input range from 4.5 to 25 V, while in boost configuration, it provides a buck-boost converter with a wide input range from 0.9 to 20 V. Additionally, it has a wide programmable output current range from 0.1 to 2 A.
The TLE4263GMXUMA1 linear voltage regulator is designed for applications which require low output voltage deviation due to transient supply voltage fluctuations. The working principle of the TLE4263GMXUMA1 is based on a current-mode controlled buck/boost converter. The output voltage is regulated by the internal comparator which monitors the output voltage and compares it to the reference voltage. When the voltage drops below the reference voltage, the output voltage is increased by increasing the switching duty cycle. Conversely, when the voltage rises above the reference voltage, the output voltage is reduced by decreasing the switching duty cycle.
In addition, the TLE4263GMXUMA1 linear voltage regulator provides protection features, improving system reliability. The device has under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-voltage protection (OVP), over-temperature protection (OTP), and over-current protection (OCP). The UVLO feature prevents operation at supply voltages below the device’s minimum operational threshold by reducing power dissipation and current drain to protect the device from damage. The OVP feature prevents the output voltage from exceeding the maximum allowable level, while the OTP feature turns off the output voltage when the die temperature of the device exceeds the preset upper threshold. Finally, the OCP feature protects the device from over-current by limiting the output current to its maximum allowed threshold.
