TLE4976-1H is a magnetic sensor switch manufactured and supplied by Infineon Technologies AG. It provides three different types of switch functions, including normally open (NO), normally closed (NC) and resistive open. These switches are used in a variety of applications, from automotive to industrial, and are designed to detect an increase in the presence of a magnetic field, triggering an appropriate response from the switch.
When applying TLE4976-1H, the presence of both an electrical power source and a magnetic field is necessary. When no magnetic field is present, it will remain in its default state: the normally closed (NC) position. Deducted from its name, when a magnetic field of a sufficient strength is present or applied, the switch will actuate and transition to either its normally open (NO) or resistive open (RO) positions. Infineon’s TLE4976-1H has a wide range of applications, such as automotive, security, home automation and industrial. It is also widely used in automatic door control mechanisms, electromechanical switches, automotive immobilizers, and alarm systems.
The working principle behind the Infineon TLE4976-1H magnetic switch is based on the Hall-effect. This effect is caused by a current flow placed in a conductor conducting a magnetic field. This magnetic force is then detected and measured using a sensor, which is then used to transition the switch from its NC to either its RO or NO states. This is done by the magnetic field increasing the current available in the junction, thus changing the voltage drop across the two terminals.
The Infineon TLE4976-1H switch can detect a wide range of fields, ranging from 300 mT to 400 mT for NC function, from 400 mT to 600 mT for RO and 600 mT to 800 mT for NO. This level of sensitivity is achieved due to the integrated Hall-effect element, possessing an extremely low stand-by current, low quiescent current and low magnetic sensitivity. The built-in high accuracy holds true even at extreme temperatures, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications.
The TLE4976-1H magnetic switch also offers various important features such as: RoHS compliant, low-resonance frequency, fast switching response, low leakage current and a fixed hysteresis value which makes it suitable for standard applications.
