Working Principle

When the output voltage is required, the Enable pin (EN) is pulled low, activating the IC and switching on the internal MOSFET. This produces a voltage drop across the external load, causing the differential voltage across the device and the resultant change in IO current is fed back to the current sinks in order to compensate for the output voltage. The current limit circuitry protects the circuit from overload condition and keeps the device from reaching the thermal runaway condition. To prevent the device from over-sampling the current load and going into thermal runaway, the prescale voltage determines the operation of the current sensing circuit. If the voltage falls outside the normal required range, the output voltage is automatically adjusted. This error protection circuitry allows the TLE42644G to provide a low noise and high current drive.
