Optoisolators provide the electrical protection and isolation required for diverse applications such as medical equipment, telecommunications and industrial process control systems. They use to couple an optically isolated electrical input signal to an optically isolated electrical output signal. The TLP109 (V4,E) Optoisolator is a type of photovoltaic output device that uses a single transistor and an LED to achieve electrical isolation between two circuits.

The TLP109 Transistor, Photovoltaic Output Optoisolator has a wide range of operating voltages and frequencies. It is available with a variety of output stage configurations including 2-channel, 3-channel, and 4-channel configurations. The maximum time delay between on and off states is 8ms. The device is qualified to the JEDEC standard devices, and meets the requirements of environmental and mechanical regulations.

The device features an LED that is optically coupled to a phototransistor output stage. When the LED is on, the phototransistor output stage is enabled.
