Solid State Relays
Solid state relays or SSRs are electrical relays, whose contacts are switched on and off using semiconductor devices with no moving parts, so they are also called contacts without contacts. Unlike electromechanical relay, SSRs have no mechanical parts that can wear out or break down over time. Each SSR consists of an input control circuit and output circuit connected via an isolation process. TLP174GA(TP,F) Application Field and Working Principle
TLP174GA(TP,F) is a bipolar AC solid state relay from Toshiba Semiconductor and Storage with a wide operating voltage range of 4.7 to 270V AC. It is a compact surface-mount, four-pin solid state relay package and can be through-hole mounted on a printed circuit board assembly. It is especially suited for applications such as home appliances, office automation, industrial machines, security systems, and lighting and motor control.
The TLP174GA(TP,F) is designed to switch electric devices using input control signals. It is composed of a photo-MOSFET, an infrared diode, and resistor network in one IC. The photomos is alternately switched ON and OFF by a light emitted from the infrared diode. The photo-MOSFET is then turned on and off with input control signals. After the control signal is removed, the photo-MOSFET will remain in the ON state until the input signal is received again.
