In the reverse scenario, the transistor is OFF and no signal conduction takes place resulting in an OFF state.

The TLP2745 designs considers various design considerations, such as fast switching time, minimal power consumption, high voltage isolation, and temperature operation. The circuit design includes the additional component isolation resistors (R is) to minimize the current paths and hence noise immunity, while limiting the LED current flow.
