The TM3D227K6R3CBA is a surface mount tantalum capacitor that is commonly used for decoupling applications in power management systems. It is also used to reduce the effects of transient voltage events such EMI and to maintain voltage stability. The TM3D227K6R3CBA has a solid tantalum anode, a crossed linked polycarbonate cathode and is coated with a conductive epoxy. The capacitor has a capacitance of 47uF and a voltage rating of 6.3V.

The working principle of the TM3D227K6R3CBA is based on the electrical double layer capacitance. When a voltage is applied to the capacitor, the positive charges on the anode and the negative charges on the cathode are attracted to each other and form a double layer near the interface of the two materials. This creates a field between the two layers that stores electrical energy which can be released when the voltage is removed.
