TMC429-LI-T, developed by Trinitec Electronic, is a motor driver,controller and Intelligent Integrated Stepper Motor Controller.It is a highly integrated stepper motor control IC whichsupports all kinds of motors, including bipolar andunipolar stepper motors. It is compatible with a variety ofmotors control methods such as linear control, full-stepcontrol and micro-stepping. This device is designed withLow rDS(on) MOSFETs, high voltage inputs and wideinput voltage range are suitable for a variety ofapplications. and can also be used for PMIC – Motor Drivers andControllers.

The TMC429-LI-T is a highly integrated monolithicstepper motor controller. It is designed to meet the requirements of a variety of stepper motor applications.It contains a MOSFET based 4-phase H-bridge motor driver, aPWM modulator, two internalError-signal analogdigital converters and an intelligent controller. The internalcontroller provides the stepper motor driver with a pulse width modulation signal to control the current flowthrough the stepper motor windings.It also provides a sinusoidal modulation output to ensure smoothstepper motor operation.

The TMC429-LI-T also features a wide range of user programmable features. These features allow the user tooptimize the performance of their application to best suits their needs. Features such as Motor selection, Windingselection, Current control, Step frequency, Step direction,Phase switching and Micro-stepping are just some of thefeatures that allow for flexibility in application design. Inaddition, the TMC429-LI-T also offers two productconfigurable select pins (PC0 and PC1) which can be used tosimply select different configurations of the deviceincluding, but not limited to, motor type, operating mode,current limit, step frequency, phase switch andmicro-stepping.

Furthermore, the TMC429-LI-T internal circuitry provides enhanced system protection such asover voltage protection, over current protection and thermal shutdown. The over current protection feature allows theuser to set a current limit to protect the device fromdamage in the case of an overload or fault condition. Inaddition, the thermal shutdown feature ensures the safetyof the device by reducing the output current when the temperature of the IC exceeds a certain threshold.
