The TMDSDSK6455 is an evaluation board for embedded microcontrollers, digital signal controllers and other embedded processors. It provides an easy way to evaluate and configure new chips and provides an integrated development environment for developing and testing program code across a range of embedded microcomponents. The board features a high-speed peripheral interface, dual USB ports, and support for multiple on-board peripherals. It is designed to provide a convenient, affordable and robust platform used for developing and testing a variety of applications that require minimal hardware complexity.
The TMDSDSK6455 evaluation board comprises of an Intel Cyclone V FPGA and an ARM Cortex-A9 series processor which works in tandem to provide the processing performance for the application. The evaluation board has four high-speed interface ports the Dynamic Binary Translation ports, an RS-485 port, and an Ethernet port. It also has four low-power ports to provide energy efficient solutions.
The Dynamic Binary Translation (DBT) is a technology developed by Intel that provides a sophisticated real-time benchmarking of dynamic application memory access patterns. Based on the measured performance levels, the FPGA can be configured dynamically to achieve the optimal configuration. This allows the FPGA to be used more efficiently and cost effectively in real-time environments.
The Ethernet port allows the evaluation board to communicate with external peripherals or networks such as the Ethernet-based Interent of Things. This enables applications to take advantage of the same system wide features provided by a single platform. This also allows integration of the board in products which will require remote access and control.
The on-board peripherals include a resistive touchpad, two LED backlights, an LCD display, an audio system, and a serial port. The touchpad, backlights and LCD display are designed to provide a user interface that is intuitive and easy to use. The audio system supports up to 24-bit resolution and can be used for music playback, as well as sound effects. The serial port is an access port for external peripherals such as a barcode reader.
