The TMDSEVM572X evaluation module (EVM) enables developers to easily evaluate the features of Texas Instruments’ C2000™ 32-bit digital signal processor (DSP) and SENTRICON® ARM® Cortex®-M3 microcontroller in one low-cost development platform. This user-friendly evaluation module combines the integrated development environment (IDE), real-time debugging tool, evaluation board and a rich set of peripheral devices to provide a complete system-level solution.

Application Field

The TMDSEVM572X’s unique feature set enables designers to develop and prototype advanced motor control systems, general-purpose applications, and communication and networking systems. This EVM is designed to explore all the exceptional features of the C2000™ and SENTRICON® ARM® Cortex®-M3 processor to offer performance up to 40 MHz with no additional components required. The TMDSEVM572X comes with a variety of interface boards like LEDs, switches, as well as on-board connectivity like Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART module, which makes it an ideal platform for exploring a broad range of application possibilities.

Working Principle

The TMDSEVM572X Evaluation Module is based on two DSPs working in tandem to provide a secure, efficient solution to managing system-level changes. The C2000™ 32-bit digital signal processor runs the core processes, including motor controls, general-purpose applications, and communication and networking systems, while the SENTRICON® ARM® Cortex®-M3 microcontroller manages system-level changes and provides secure debug access.

The combined development platform also includes the Code Composer Studio™ IDE for application development and the C2000 Real-time Debug Tool for emulation and real-time code execution and debugging. The platform also comes with various peripheral boards to offer developers a complete system-level solution. This platform provides designers with an easy-to-use solution that ensures high performance and reliable operation.

The C2000™ 32-bit digital processor is the primary processor and is a part of the Multi Core C2000™ family. The processor includes an on-chip memory management unit (MMU) and 32-bit addressing mode. It is designed to operate at frequencies up to 200MHz and has an array of features like ALU, FPU, DMA and onboard debug support. The C2000 real-time debug tool allows developers to debug in real-time and offers an efficient way to streamline the development process.

The SENTRICON® ARM® Cortex®-M3 microcontroller on the other hand, is the ARM® based microcontroller that takes the responsibility of managing the system-level changes through a secure debugger. This processor is designed to operate at frequencies of up to 80MHz and features the latest technology from ARM including integrated DSP and floating point unit. The integrated development environment helps developers to get their applications up and running quickly.
