TMDSEXPL138 from Texas Instruments is an evaluation board designed for development and validation using the Hercules™ Safety MCU TMS570LS3137 microcontroller. This board is an ideal platform for evaluation and demonstration of TMS570LS3137 MCU and its application in the area of industrial automation and safety systems.

The TMDSEXPL138 comprises of TMS570LS3137 Hercules Safety MCU, OCTOSPI memory, Power supply, LEDs, user-controlled input and output ports, real-time clock (RTC), Ethernet, and CAN transceiver. The TMS570LS3137 Hercules Safety MCU is an ARM® Cortex®-R4F based MCU that integrates safety features such as error correction code (ECC) for the main system memories, safe clock monitoring, memory-mapped module-level protection and safety-related event monitor. It also integrates features such as FlexRay communication controller for automotive communication networks, three CAN controllers, safety watchdog timer and background debug mode.

The Octospi memory is used as external memory on the evaluation board and can be operated in QPI mode; which yields an extremely high throughput. The user-controlled input and output port on the board are to be used as power measuring points consumption, key monitoring, LED indicators and more. The power supply on the board is also provided with adjustable PWR_GOOD pins, which could be used with the TMS570LS3137 MCU’s configurable and extendable hardware in order to monitor various supplies.

TMS570LS3137 MCU provides extensive capabilities for low-power operations and advanced debug and trace features for improved performance. The board provides capabilities to program, debug and trace at various hardware debug interfaces for USER0, USER1, SPIB and MEM ports. Users can program, debug and trace the TMS570LS3137 MCU by configuring the evaluation board for the required serial port (SPI, SCI, I2C, CAN, etc.).
