The TMS320C80GGP50 is a digital signal processor (DSP) manufactured by Texas Instruments as part of the Concerto product line. The processor is based on a new mobile-phone application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) called GGP50, which features an enhanced level of integration, performance, and power efficiency with regards to its predecessors. The TMS320C80GGP50 is a 32-bit processor based on the TMS320C80 architecture and integrated with the Texas Instruments VisualGPS™ software suite. The processor delivers up to 25 DMIPS (Dhrystone Millions of Instructions Per Second) and is highly efficient in managing memory bandwidth, cache, power, and system clocking. In addition to the processor architecture, the TMS320C80GGP50 family offers a wide variety of advanced software development tools. These tools enable developers to efficiently create, debug and optimize their embedded applications utilizing the TI’s advanced software development toolkits, such as Code Composer Studio and Code Generation Tools. This environment enables developers to quickly generate and test code and to perform real-time system simulations.
The C80GGP50 features the TI G7G core, which is a 32-bit embedded processor based on the TMS320C80 architecture. This core includes several peripherals, including general-purpose input/output (GPIO) pins, serial communications interfaces (SCI) for communication with external peripherals, a Parallel Input/Output Interface (PIO), an interrupt controller, and power management logic. The processor also includes on-chip memory such as ROM, RAM, and a cache memory subsystem. The processor is built on a VHSIC (very-high-speed integrated circuit) process technology, enabling it to deliver computing power and system performance not available in previous generations of DSPs.
The TMS320C80GGP50’s innovative architecture enables it to simultaneously manage and optimize multiple tasks.
