It is a high-performance embedded microcontroller designed and produced by Texas Instruments, which is a CPU of high-performance single-chip system based on C2000 Delfino series TMS320F28063P microcontroller and TMS320F28064P microcontroller. It integrates many digital and analog computation functions, and supports the implementation of a powerful mathematical calculation structure. The C2000 TMS320F28064PZPS is composed of a main controller processor, a peripheral processor and some additional modules. The CPU includes ultra-low power DSP 28064M microprocessor, and is connected with the peripherals processor of 16-bit C8051F350 controller core via a powerful, direct memory access (DMA) module, providing maximum computing and processing performance. Based on the ultra-low power consumption of TMS320F28064PZPS, the controller can be widely used in various fields, including industrial control, motor control, AC inverter, energy, smart grid, lighting control, power management, robot and so on. In industrial control field, the TMS320F28064PZPS processor can be used in industrial control products including professional CNC machine control, industrial plane, lathe control system. While in the motor control field, the TMS320F28064PZPS can control BLDC motor, IPM motor and asynchronous motor which are commonly used motors in industrial, commercial and home appliance. Moreover, it can be used for AC inverter and monitor photovoltaic grid. The TMS320F28064PZPS processor works by a set of instruction, each instruction correspond to a specific result from the microprocessor. The set of instruction is also called instruction set architecture(ISA). The TMS320F28064PZPS uses Texas Instrument TMS320C2000 ISA,it includes different control word fixed-point and floating-point data formats, functions and arithmetic algorithms. The C2000 instruction architecture provides high-precision data operations, the instruction size is 16 bit and the RISC structure enables faster overall execution and higher data throughput rate. Therefore, TMS320F28064PZPS suits a variety of application. The core functions of the TMS320F28064PZPS include the memory, the CPU and the peripheral. There are four types of memory in the processor namely RAM,ROM,EEPROM and FLASH. RAM is used for data storage and calculations, ROM store the instruction set and the initial boot code, EEPROM is used for permanent storage, such as user settings, and FLASH is used to store the program. The CPU block is designed with the TMS320F28064PV microcontroller, which is the core of the control system. The integrated peripheral control block contains multiple digital IO and analog IO devices, such as high speed GPIO, PWM, SPI, UART, I2C, DAC, ADC and CAN. The heart of the TMS320F28064PZPS processer is 32-bit RVC Linerate TMS320F28064PV microcontroller core. It also includes peripheral control interfaces such as DMA, clock generator and programmable interrupt controller, as well as some additional features such as watchdog timer, SVPF voltage supervisor, system control bus, memorycontroller, and cyclic redundancy check(CRC) engine. The wpodog timer monitor the operation of the microcontroller, and can reset it if an incorrect operation occurs to ensure that the system is not damaged. The SVPF voltage supervisor provides under-voltage protection to the system against the excessive voltage or glitching during the power on or off. The system control bus is designed within the processor, with the help of which other necessary peripheral devices can be connected to the processor easliy. The memory controller can be connected to external flash and SRAM, this can extend the internal SRAM’s storage capability. As for the CRC engine, it will calculate check codes for data transmission and reception. The good performance of the TMS320F28064PZPS processer is reflected in its key performance indicator, such as operating voltage range, power consumption, and instruction execution speed. The device supports wide power supply (1.8~5.5V). The power consumption of the device is very low and can be as low as 58mW during the normal working condition. The instruction execution speed is up to 150MHz. The instruction memory size is 16KB and the program memory is 2MB. Besides, the TMS320F28064PZPS processer has special features of wake up speed and wake up current, and supports power-on reset and lockup reset. Considering the integration of software and hardware, the TMS320F28064PZPS processor’s 32-bit RISC core technology enables faster operation of the system and better control accuracy. Its peripherals such as DMA, SFTA, PWM, UART, SPI, I2C, ESI etc. make it possible for the processor to interact with the external environment and control the peripheral components. The Texas Instruments provides the complete development environment for the C2000 TMS320F28064PZPS processor, including IEC1131 for the variable structure programming and TI’s CodeComposer Studio IDE for visual programming and debugging.
