TN1215-800G-TR is a bidirectional solid-state switch based on Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) technology. It is engineered to provide over-voltage and over-current protection as well as low EMI/RFI, low performance AC and DC circuit breaker. As a type of advanced semiconductor device, SCRs are comprised of three terminals - an Anode "A", a Cathode "K", and a Gate "G". Working Principle
The working principle of SCRs is simple: the Gate terminal triggers the device’s conduction action. When a positive pulse is applied to the Gate terminal, current is enabled to flow from the Anode to the Cathode. The size of the voltage applied to the Gate determines the amount of current allowed to flow - when a positive enough voltage is applied, current is allowed to pass through the device for an extended period of time. To turn off an SCR-based switch, two methods are available: Voltage Reverse Blocking and Latching. In Voltage Reverse Blocking, a negative voltage is applied to the Gate terminal to block its conduction action. In Latching, the conduction action is blocked with a surge of current applied to the Cathode. It can then be re-activated through the application of high-amperage current to the Anode. The TN1215-800G-TR is designed with both Voltage Reverse Blocking and Latching capability in mind, making it perfect for industrial applications requiring rapid response and high load-shedding capability.
