The TPS2044ADG4 is a monolithic CMOS power distribution switch and load driver tailored primarily to hot plug and other applications. It features 8 n-channel power switches as well as floating load drivers, eliminating the need for external active components and thus reducing total cost. In hot plug events, when a peripheral is plugged in to the host, high power loads may suddenly activate and the TPS2044ADG4 operates effectively in order to isolate the high power load abruptly. The device comes with the required level of surge protection to make sure that the system remains safe during plug-in events.The device was designed to minimize power consumption during normal operation and utilizes an on-chip gas discharge tube (GDT) to reduce the risk of external overvoltage damage. It provides an analogue power supply control for each load, allowing for smooth transitions when there are multiple port changes. Synchronous control is also available when there are multiple power supplies, in order to equalize power consumption between each load.The TPS2044ADG4 features a built-in 3.3V linearReg™ regulator that provides a regulated power supply voltage to assist in system-level control and monitoring.
