TPS2067DR is a dual high-side N-channel MOSFET power switch designed to provide general purpose power distribution, sequencing and load driving functions with fault detection. It is part of the Texas Instruments TPS207X family of power switches designed for 12-Will linearvoltage regulator system applications. The two independent power MOSFETs in the device can be controlled by independent control signals up to a maximum of 100mA. The main application field for TPS2067DR is in 5V, 12V and 24V dc-dc converters, power monitoring systems and power management functions such as resetting and power sequencing.

The TPS2067DR features under voltage lock-out (UVLO) to prevent the load rails from dropping below a preset voltage level, quality “on-chip” current sensing and over temperature protection. A built-in low-dropout (LDO) current-drive regulator helps to ensure that the MOSFETs are driven to their maximum efficiency.

The working principle of the TPS2067DR is based on two independent N-channel MOSFETs with their source terminals connected to the GND pin and their drains connected to the two output pins (Vout1 and Vout2). The MOSFETs can be switched on and off independently by application of an active high Enable signal on terminal EN1 and EN2. The Enable terminal will operate with a normal low voltage, ranging from 0-2.4V, and with a high voltage as high as 7V. The voltage is then limited to the trip point of UVLO function.

The device includes a “power on reset” feature that can be enabled by setting the POR pin to between 4.25-7V. This feature will guarantee the MOSFETs are held in a switching off state until the power-up voltage has reached the minimum voltage threshold as set in the UVLO.

The current sensing function can be utilized by connecting an external resistor between the SNS1 and SNS2 pins. When current is flowing through the MOSFETs, this resistor will generate a voltage drop across it, which will result in creation of an over-current fault signal, available through the Sense Output pin.

The over temperature protection feature is designed to shut down the MOSFETs if their temperature rises above a predetermined set-point. This feature is enabled by connecting the junction of the two MOSFETs and the PWRON pin to the thermal diode terminal, and tying it to ground.

In addition to the aforementioned features, the TPS2067DR is designed to meet the requirements for low-noise and EMI compliance, as well as being designed to be compatible with the majority of existing communication interfaces. The operating temperature of the device can range between -40°C and +125°C, enabling it to be used across a wide range of environmental conditions.
