Working Principle
The TPS2HA08 is an active OR-ing Schottky diode, which combines the functions of a load switch and an OR-ing diode in one single device. It works by combining a p-channel MOSFET (PMOS) with a Schottky diode, both active components.
The Schottky diode acts as an OR-ing diode, providing low-level voltage in parallel with the PMOS when the output voltage is below the Vcc. The PMOS switches on and off during a high-to-low transition of the input voltage. When the input voltage is low, the PMOS dissipates power and when the input voltage is high, the PMOS is off.
The TPS2HA08AQ1EVM board contains two leads which can be connected to a source of Vcc or power supply and a load. During an active state, the PMOS switches in an off-state, thus providing low-level voltage to the output and reducing the leakage current, thus achieving maximum efficiency. Additionally, it can be used to provide a higher dynamic range up to 35V.
