The TPS2216ADB is a two-channel single-side N-channel MOSFET switch open-drain driver, with integrated over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature and high current protection as well as common-mode voltage clamp. It enables 1A load current. It also features clock skew compensation and power up/down sequencing.

The working principle of the TPS2216ADB is that it integrates a dual-channel open-drain MOSFET driver that control the low-side N-channel MOSFETs. It also features active reset and power-on reset. The active reset pin is used to shutdown the TPS2216ADB power supply. The power-on reset pin is used to reset the MOSFET driver. The TPS2216ADB has an integrated over-voltage detect circuit to detect an over-voltage condition in the load and latch-off the MOSFET driver, independently. It also has an under-voltage lockout circuit to detect undervoltage in the load, and the MOSFET will latch-off when the condition is detected. The TPS2216ADB includes a thermal shutdown circuit to protect from overheating, and the MOSFET will be latch-off once a over-temperature condition is detected.

In addition, a slew rate controlled driver mode is provided, as well as a power-on delay circuit, which can be set up to provide a fixed delay for the turn-on of the output MOSFETs. Furthermore, there is an input common-mode voltage clamp circuit which is used to prevent the driver inputs from being driven outside the logic input supply range. Lastly, there is an input clock skew compensation circuit which helps to reduce the overall turn-on delay time.
