It is able to detect both the IEEE 802.3af class, whether class 0 or class 3, and the source of the Ethernet link - MDI or MDI-X. The chip also includes a number of power management features, including control over the PoE Power Source Equipment (PSE) power level and the ability to throttle the power feed to the connected device. It can also detect and report any short or overload conditions within the PoE BUS link.In addition to allowing the connection to a variety of Ethernet enabled devices, the TPS2388RTQR is also capable of providing advanced power management features.
