The Texas Instruments TPS2412D is a negative OR controller that provides power supply sequencing and inrush control. It is designed to provide a selectable slew rate, allowing users to easily adjust the voltage during power sequencing and manage the current inrush during start-up. The TPS2412D can control up to two gates from a single device and is capable of supplying up to 4A of continuous gate drive current.The TPS2412D can be used for a variety of applications, such as automotive, consumer and industrial applications, as it is capable of operating from a wide input voltage range of 3.3V to 24V. The Texas Instruments TPS2412D is also one of the few devices to incorporate ideal diodes in a single package. Ideal diodes provide bidirectional current flow, allowing the TPS2412D to direct power from an external source to the load while simultaneously protecting the source from any reverse current.The TPS2412D\'s ideal diodes have a wide input voltage range of up to 30V and can be set to any threshold voltage between 3.5V and 30V due to its dedicated VTH pin. The ideal diodes also feature low on-resistance, effectively reducing power dissipation.The ideal diodes provide efficient and reliable protection against reverse current, as they are designed to open and close as necessary to maintain a predetermined voltage. They have a fast turn-on and turn-off time, allowing the TPS2412D to accurately regulate the voltage on its outputs.Working Principle
The TPS2412D uses an internal charge pump to generate a wide range of voltages, from 2.75V to 8.5V, which is then used to turn on/off and control its outputs. The charge pump is controlled by an internal comparator and can be programmed by connecting external resistors to the GSC and GSS pins.The device uses a negative OR logic to control its outputs. When the inputs are high, the outputs are high, but when the inputs are low, the outputs are low. The TPS2412D also has a high-side output driver, which can be used to signal downstream loads.The TPS2412D is designed to provide power supply sequencing and inrush control.
