The TPS254900Q1EVM-817 board and kit is intended for use as a tool for evaluation, demonstration and development of the TPS254900Q1 device. The board is ideal for evaluation and demonstration of a power path/load switch implementation with the TPS254900Q1 device, utilizing the Intelligent Power Manager (IPMv2). The board is also suitable for evaluation and demonstration of quick charge 3.0 SR, smart watch and charging system applications.

The board and evaluation kit employ the TPS254900Q1 device, which consists of an N-channel MOSFET load switch, a dual PSM/PSM power-management FET and an integrated USB Type-C and quick charge 3.0 SR power path control logic. When the power is activated, the device controls the power path/load switch and provides the charging current to the device as programmed by the Intelligent Power Manager (IPMv2). The device automatically switches the power management FET from power distribution (PSM) to the power path (PPm) based on the current limiting, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), over temperature protection (OTP) and inrush current limiting (ICL) protection features.

The device also integrates a quick charge adapter from a wide range of USB PD/QC 3.0 SR compliant profiles. Additionally, it provides a smart watch and charging system power path/load switch solution with USB Type-C port outputs. The board provides the TPS254900Q1 device with a graphical user interface (GUI) so that different operating parameters such as the PSM/PPm power management FET switching, UVLO, OTP, and ICL can be programmed.
