Texas Instruments TPS40021EVM-001 is an evaluation module that has a protection and control IC TPS40021 that supports a multiphase DC/DC step-down power supply for high-current microprocessors. The control IC TPS40021 has programmable on/off sequencing, and out of phase operation, and can drive up to five channels with power. There are dual synchronous rectification output stages, enabling higher output power for high current applications, as well as current sharing among phases, and maximum switch current limit feature. Additionally, the module includes a PMBus-compliant interface that behaves as a virtual fan header, allowing software to control its temperature, and fan speed.
