TPS40071EVM-001 Application Field and Working Principle

The TPS40071EVM-001 evaluation module (EVM) demonstrates the device\'s ability to accurately control, protect and monitor the TI TPS40071 fixed-frequency digital PWM controller. This EVM can be used to evaluate dynamic response, provide system protection, test power system design characteristics, measure P/N pin and other power systems parameters.

The TPS40071EVM-001 comprises a 200W board, which is connected to an isolated current source for precise current sense. The board also has a switch for communication with the onboard EEPROM, and encapsulated power rails for easy placement for prototype buildouts.

The integral controller in the TPS40071EVM-001 allows the digital switching power supply (SMPS) to provide a highly regulated output from a nominal 5V or 12V input.
