The TPS50601SPEVM-D board is a single stage flyback DC/DC converter with integrated 80V MOSFET. Designed for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications, this evaluation board facilitates a comprehensive solution providing both regulated isolated secondary voltage and primary current limit. It meets the IEEE 802.3at/af PoE ++ specifications and has an auxiliary power output for powering non-PoE IEEE 802.3af devices, as well as other isolated and non-isolated auxiliary outputs.

The board includes two presets to provide a dropped voltage for the isolated output VDDQ, a host control pin (HC) to enable and disable the power output as well as an open and closed loop soft-start capability. Offline operation is possible thanks to the use of an auxiliary winding and mains input voltage range of 85VAC to 265VAC. Primary to secondary and secondary to ground isolation is achieved by the utilization of a safety network consisting of a fuse, an EMI filter, and a X-capacitor.

The working principle of this evaluation board is based on the single stage flyback topology, where the power transformer has two windings: the primary one at the input and the secondary one at the output. The primary circuit of the TPS50601SPEVM-D includes the mains rectifier, EMI filter, DC link capacitor, primary transformer, Aux winding, and DC bus. It is suitable for powering and charging PoE 802.3at/af compliant equipment, providing Time-of-Flight (ToF) device operation in Industrial and Automotive applications.
