The TPS5210EVM-116 evaluation module (EVM) is a DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) designed to evaluate the operation and performance characteristics of the Texas Instruments TPS5210 Switch Mode Dual Output Controller. The TPS5210EVM-116 is a highly integrated package with considerable flexibility in application and configuration. The EVM provides a convenient and cost effective platform for evaluating the single or dual output current limit functions, as well as providing a comprehensive set of ground output protection features.
The TPS5210EVM-116 provides a single output (VOUT_1) adjustable from 2.2V to 5.75V with a maximum output current capability up to 1.5A as well as a second floating output, VOUT_2, with adjustable output voltage (1.2V to 5.75V) and maximum current capability up to 0.8A. In addition, the TPS5210EVM-116 supports an adjustable switching frequency (150KHz to 600KHz) and variable soft start time (10msec to 25msec).
The TPS5210EVM-116 is designed to work as a stand-alone power supply. It operates from an input voltage supply of 10V to 60VAC or 12V to 90VDC and provides a maximum output power of 8W. Its small size and light weight makes it ideal for use in space-constrained applications. The EVM’s design ensures reliable operation and superior design flexibility. It features a highly efficient transformer design with a low gate drive power dissipation, internal power dissipation within the maximum current rating, and an adjustable in-rush current limit.
