The TPS53314RGFR works by using a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal to regulate the input voltage and control the output voltage. Once the FET has been turned on, the input voltage is then regulated to the desired output voltage in a number of steps.In order to optimize efficiency, the TPS53314RGFR utilizes both discontinuous and continuous conduction. Discontinuous conduction mode is used when the input voltage is greater than the output voltage. In this mode, the converter will cycle on and off rapidly, enabling the power conversion to be done with high efficiency.When the input voltage is lower than the output voltage, the converter will enter continuous conduction mode.
