The TPS53353EVM-744 is a high efficiency, wide input to wide range output (57 V to 100 V) synchronous switching power supply evaluation module (EVM). It is an ideal platform for testing and evaluation of TPS53353, an 85 V, 33 V, and 12 V wide input range buck controller from Texas Instruments. This EVM is designed for testing applications such as ac/dc adapters with wide input range, telecom rectifiers, and audio amplifiers. The EVM supports an input voltage range of 3.3 V to 85 V and has a peak efficiency of 92.5%.

The TPS53353EVM-744 is based on a synchronous buck topology. The device regulates the output by sensing the output voltage and comparing the sensing voltage with a reference voltage. When the output voltage is below the reference voltage, the error amplifier turns on the driver transistor which provides the current to the primary winding of the transformer. The current is AC rectified by a Schottky diode and filtered to obtain the DC output. When the output voltage is above the reference voltage, the error amplifier turns on the driver transistor which turns off the current to the transformer’s primary winding. The switching frequency of the control circuit is around 250 kHz.
