The Texas Instruments TPS5431DDARG4 is a four-phase di / po synchronous buck powering ideally suited for medium and high current point of load (POL) applications. Since the output voltage range is adjustable from 0.6 V to 1.245 V, this part is perfect for point-of-load voltage regulation. Due to the four-phase synchronous design, the TPS5431 is able to project high efficiency of 0.9 or higher even at light load conditions. In addition, the integrated DRMOS products provide a lower RDSon for higher output current.

The TPS5431 features wide input voltage ranges of 4.5V to 17V and 4.75V to 23V, making it suitable for a wide variety of telecommunications, storage and networking applications. It also features internal synchronous rectification and PWM controllers with 225nA standby current. The part also features eight-step programmable output power limit, over current protection limit and over temperature protection.

The TPS5431DDARG4 device is a DC to DC synchronous buck (step down) converter. It has an internal high-side MOSFET and low-side MOSFET that regulate the output voltage and maintain the output current levels. The output voltage is set using an external resistor divider connected to an external voltage source. The input voltage is applied to an inductor and the output voltage is produced on the inductor.
