The TPS54320EVM-513 evaluation board is a DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS with an application field which is applicable for low output power applications such as external power supply and microprocessor applications. This evaluation board is a comprehensive evaluation platform for testing and evaluating the TI TPS54320 synchronous buck controller and is based on the 28-pin DIP/SOIC of Ti\'s TPS54320 integrated circuit.

The TPS54320EVM-513 evaluation board comes with an adjustable output voltage ranging from 1.2V to 5.5V with a maximum output current of 1.5A. It features an input voltage range of 4.5V to 13.8V for direct connection to a wide range of input sources and supplies adequate power to the load. On board power sequencing and fault monitor help protect the load from power-on glitches, brownouts, and overvoltage conditions.

The evaluation board works through a simple switching principle whereby it changes the input voltage of the DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS into the desired output voltage range. The switching is achieved through the TPS54320 controller which controls the high-side and low-side MOSFETs to create an efficient, low noise, and fixed frequency voltage conversion between the input and output of the board.

The TPS54320 controller also features a real-time current limit with an internal N-Channel MOSFET which provides precise over-current protection. This allows for enhanced system reliability, safety, and increased efficiency over the entire load range of the board. In addition, the Switching Frequency Control feature of the TPS54320 controller helps the evaluation board to reduce EMI and is adjustable from 50kHz to 1.3MHz.
